A New Dawn, A New Decade

Happy New Year from all at Chandler Book Design.

We have returned to work following the festive period, there is still snow on the ground, decorations in the window and cards upon the fireplace but alas books need to be designed, and we are the people to do it.

We are looking forward to an enjoyable 2010, and hope you are too.

Best Wishes

Russen & Turner Re-Branding

Not just Book Designers

Chandler Book Design are becoming reknowned for their bespoke book designs and design is the reason for this. Chandler Design is a limited company made up of a selection of talented and skilled Graphic Designers. We don't pretend to be publishers or typesetters because we are not. We are creative graphic designers with a passion for books.

Chandler Design, one of the many strings to Chandler Design Associates Ltd's bow, have recently completed a branding project for a large local estate agents. The company in question is Russen & Turner, who are locally based in King's Lynn, serving the Norfolk community.

The re-branding job itself took a number of months to complete and included every aspect of the company's identity. The shop had a face-lift, all the for-sale boards were re-designed, letterheads and business cards were produced to incorporate the newly designed company logo. The company's web site also received a make-over to accommodate the re-branding of one of Norfolk's leading estate agents.

Below you will find a number of examples of the final product that we are very proud of.

Peter's Unforgiving Double

The Unforgiving Minute

The Unforgiving Minute by Peter Straker is one of the latest books to be designed by Chandler Book Design. Peter's book as you can see from the accompanying images was an unusual book to design, the design process was no different to any other, it was the outcome or outcomes that surprised us and the printer.

With every book cover design, the client, receives a number of different unique options or ideas, in Peter's case however he could not decide between two covers, and therefore decided to get both printed. 50 of one and 50 of the other on his initial order.

Below you'll will find the two designs in there 2D flat dust book jacket form.

Africa, Animals and Alison

Africa, Animals and Alison
is the latest book to be designed by Chandler Book Design. Rob and Natalie Ball, founders and directors of Naturally concerned (for Alison) Ltd collaborated on this family book of there adventures with Wife and Mother Alison. This beautiful book is dedicated to Alison Ball and combines an array of awe-inspiring photographs, intrecate details, information and a vibrant palette of colours.

This book captures the experiences of one family on safari in Kenya, South Africa and Zambia, as they were lucky enough to encounter some of the world's most fascinating species. This is not the story of adventurers but of surburban people choosing to holiday extraordinarily. it is a series of recollections of travel, which could be available to anyone possessing a hint of loving life.

Rob and Natalie were in Birmingham on Tuesday the 1st December for the BOOKS BIG LAUNCH.

Africa, Animals and Alison is an excellent example of full-blocking (a textured design on the hardback board under the book jacket)

Un-Stable Lane, Reviewed in Self Publishing Magazine

Un-Stable Lane written by author Julie Christine Round, designed by Chandler Book Design has been reviewed in this months edition of 'Self Publishing Magazine'.

"an attractive cover photo was well thought out, depicting all that was threatening such a tranquil setting."

THE CRITIQUE READ:

Unstable Lane is a sequel to Lane's End. The unstableness is brought about by a flash flood destroying everything in its path.

It is not the only thing that could have been destroyed when Katie Longman, tired of her dull existence and held back by a less that go-ahead husband, discovers a new group of friends and starts going out in the evenings. Set in a small caravan park, with its shop, craft centre and nearby market garden, it tells of the life of a small community nestling in the Sussex Downs, but close to the sea.

THE BOOK REVIEWER GOES ON TO SAY:

I found the first couple of chapters confusing as there were short flashbacks to the previous book, which needed more explanation, or a prologue. A cast of characters would also have helped to work out who was who. The black clouds hovering over an attractive cover photo was well thought out, depicting all that was threatening such a tranquil setting.

However, once a few chapters into the story, this was a pleasant read and I can see another sequel from Julie Round on the not too distant horizon.
